OpenModeller Deskptop is a program that models and analyzes information about distribution of biological species. This modeling program allows creating experiments using geographical information, occurrence data, algorithms to model the behavior of biological entities, and layers that allow establishing patterns related to meteorological or geographical environments.
First, we set the layers to use. Then we need to upload the occurrence data in a text file of a predefined format, select one or more algorithms to use with the experiment and the desired Coordinate System. And finally choose a new name and the path where the information should be placed. The modeling algorithms available are: ANN-Artificial Neural Networks, Aquamaps, Bioclim, and some others. Raster information can be used to model experiments, and there is sample data included that can be used in the experiments that require modeling. Layers, layersets and algorithms can be created, edited or even deleted by using the corresponding manager option.
The program's GUI is quite simple; however, it is recommended to read documentation for better use of the program. OpenModeller Desktop runs on almost any platform thanks to its open source.
